Acro Umbrella FAQ

Yes, beginner acro yoga classes are available in Vancouver with no experience required. These classes focus on safety, foundational poses, and communication.

Acro yoga, partner acrobatics, and circus training all involve movement, but they focus on different goals.

  • Acro yoga combines yoga and partner work, focusing on balance, flow, and connection.
  • Partner acrobatics is more strength and technique-based, with lifts and structured progressions.
  • Circus training includes a wider range of skills like aerials and hand balancing, often geared toward performance.

In Vancouver, many people start with acro yoga and then branch into partner acro or circus depending on their interests.

AcroYoga combines yoga, partner acrobatics, and movement. Unlike traditional yoga, it involves working with a partner to build strength, balance, and trust.

No partner is needed. Most acro yoga classes rotate partners, making it beginner-friendly and social.

Common beginner acro yoga poses include Bird, Throne, and back Plank. These help build balance, core strength, and confidence.

Acro Umbrella is a Vancouver-based community that offers acroyoga classes, partner acrobatics, dance lifts, hand balancing, standing acro circus workshops, and acro jams for all skill levels. We focus on creating a beginner-friendly, inclusive space where no partner is needed and people can learn, train, and connect through movement. Classes are offered at 3 different locations in East Vancouver.

Yes, acroyoga is safe when taught with proper technique, spotting, and gradual progressions. Beginners start with low poses and build skills step by step. Spotters help guide movement and reduce the risk of falls, especially when learning new poses. Over time, students progress safely by developing strength, balance, and communication.

With experienced instructors and a structured approach, acroyoga is a safe and accessible practice for all levels.

In your first acro class, you can expect a beginner-friendly introduction to partner work, including basic poses, communication, and safe progressions. You’ll usually start with a warm-up and some games, then learn foundational movements like Bird or Plank, working in small groups and rotating partners. For more information check out our First Acro Class Guide.

If you prefer not to be photographed during class, just let your instructor know before the session starts. We will make sure your boundaries are respected and help create a safe, comfortable space for everyone.
